Well, well. Things are moving quite nicely. Song #3 is ready and I’m already working in the last song of the EP. So that means in the following weeks I will have a release date. It all depends on what I want to do with the art.
In previous project I was anxiety driven and I worked on the art when things were still taking shape. Now, I think that is not a good idea. If you are like me, and get sidetracked easily with creative stuff this tends to rebound in a bad way. Mainly, because this generates the false idea we are advancing while at the same time we are neglecting the main part of the project, which in this case, is the music. Don’t get me wrong, the visual presentation is important but it is more important to have the songs ready and then focus in the art. It may be even better because, as it happened, arrangements may add more layers to the overall concept so if the art is done first it may not reflect the pure soul of the songs.
The Goblet of Fire reminder
I’m always reminding of this myself and yesterday, while watching Harry Potter with my wife and daughter I got the same concept from The Goblet of Fire “… there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right.” It may sound funny but the concept is there, making the art is the fun part, the easy part and doing the right thing is, of course, finishing the songs. I remind myself also that there is no reason to worry, the fun will come when the right time comes to do the art.
What is next
Finishing the fourth song, finishing the art for a digital booklet and then, only then, review the fifth track… and relax.
In the middle of all that, I will explore more ways to promote these songs and the EP.
